Strategic vision
Collective excellence in research, innovation and educating future-ready engineers and computer scientists
We embark on ambitious, bold and high-risk projects that promise significant rewards and impact, translating our technological discoveries into positive contributions for community, industry and government policy.
The Faculty of Engineering strategic plan 2025-28 is more than a roadmap, it is a declaration of our shared vision, values and ambitions.
The strategy sets three strategic priorities that embrace a broad and inclusive definition of excellence, recognising and nurturing the diverse talents of our staff and students to advance our common mission: conducting world-leading research and cultivating future-ready engineers who will drive meaningful global change.
We will create a research centre to advance engineering and computing education through innovation, industry collaboration and global best practice. We will redesign our approach to education, including environment students experience in our large units of study.
We will form multi-school teams within our faculty and collaborate across the University to make meaningful contributions to knowledge and advance the translation of our research.
We will prioritise producing the highest-quality research and will maximise its impact by embracing and supporting calculated risks with the potential for significant improvements and change in our profession and humanity more broadly.
We will cultivate a culture of collective responsibility through accountable leadership, transparent communication and collegial collaboration, while building a more diverse and inclusive Engineering community that values and supports all staff and students and maximises the impact of our work.
