Eligibility

To be eligible for the scholarship and scheme you must: 

  1. Be a domestic student. 
  2. Identify as a woman.
  3. Be completing secondary studies in the year applying for the scholarship, or have completed secondary studies in the year prior to applying for the scholarship.
  4. The scholarship and scheme will be awarded based on:
    • Academic merit, 
    • Level and performance in mathematics subjects studied at secondary school,
    • Motivation and engagement in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in their written responses in the application form, and
    • The index of Community Socio-Education Advantage (ICSEA) score of the secondary school they attend.

Application process

To be considered for the Women in Engineering Scholarship and Scheme you must: 

Successful applicants will be advised of their outcome on a rolling basis.

Students who receive a conditional scholarship offer will be able to access the Faculty of Engineering Early Conditional Offer Scheme, which provides an early conditional offer for admission to an eligible course with a reduced ATAR requirement.

To receive an unconditional offer, you must:

  • place your chosen Faculty of Engineering course as your highest eligible UAC preference by the preference closing deadline of UAC December Round 2; and 
  • meet the reduced ATAR listed below and any other admission requirements for your chosen course. Once these requirements have been met, you will be made an unconditional offer. 

The scholarship is offered subject to the applicant qualifying for admission to an undergraduate degree (including combined degrees) offered by the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney. Refer to the scholarship terms and conditions for full details.

If you do not meet the requirements of this scholarship and scheme, you may still be eligible for admission through another University of Sydney admission scheme.

Unconditional course offers are subject to course availability, and scholarship availability is limited. For current NSW Year 12 students, unconditional offers are expected to be made in UAC December Round 2. Course offers and scholarships in later UAC rounds are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.

The reduced ATAR does not apply to the Bachelor of Engineering Honours (Dalyell Scholars) or Bachelor of Engineering Honours and Bachelor of Laws. Applicants to these degrees must meet the standard admission requirements. These degrees remain eligible for the Women in Engineering Scholarship. 

All courses except B Project Management also have a Mathematics prerequisite.
