Lead advanced patient- and family-centred communication in complex oral surgery contexts, including shared decision-making, risk communication, breaking bad news, and coordinated handover/referral with multidisciplinary teams
Apply and evaluate non-technical skills (situational awareness, decision-making under pressure, teamwork, and human factors) to reduce error and improve safety across the perioperative oral surgery pathway.
Diagnose complex oral, dentoalveolar, and maxillofacial presentations by synthesising advanced history, examination, imaging and pathology findings to generate differentials and justify investigations
Design and deliver comprehensive surgical and non-surgical management for complex oro-facial conditions (including medically compromised and trauma patients) by integrating perioperative risk optimisation, multidisciplinary coordination, and complication management
Lead recognition and management of perioperative medical and surgical emergencies in oral surgery by applying advanced clinical reasoning, pharmacological interventions, procedural skills, and escalation/transfer protocols
Manage acute and chronic orofacial pain conditions by integrating evidence-based assessment, diagnosis, pharmacological and nonpharmacological strategies, and interdisciplinary referral pathways
Critically appraise and generate evidence to advance surgical dentistry by designing and conducting a supervised research or scholarly project, applying appropriate research methods and ethics, and disseminating findings to inform practice
