Improving access to leading medical science for people living in regional, rural and remote NSW.
Our Rural Health Precinct contributes to the improvement of health status of people living in rural, regional and remote New South Wales.
To realise this vision, we know that bringing together our academic schools, disciplines, and professional staff, together with communities and partners, is crucial.
The University Centre for Rural Health (UCRH) is a collaborative academic hub for rural health development, located in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales.
It is a joint venture between the University of Sydney, Western Sydney University, the University of Wollongong and Southern Cross University and operates in close collaboration with the Northern NSW Local Health Network and all providers of health services on the NSW North Coast.
With facilities in Lismore, Grafton and Murwillumbah, the centre aims to provide the best possible educational experience in rural health for medical, nursing and allied health students, and to facilitate continuing professional development for rural health practitioners.
Conducting locally relevant and internationally significant research, we nurture researcher development and work with regional health services and the community to help understand health problems.
We pride ourselves on undertaking research and evaluation activities that reduce population health inequities and promote the rural health workforce.
The University Centre for Rural Health (UCRH) conducts a research program focusing on the healthcare needs of rural populations around Australia while building research leadership and research capacity within the Northern Rivers region.
The Centre for Remote Health Research is a unit of our Broken Hill University Department of Rural Health, undertaking public health, health service and clinical research with a direct impact on policy and practice within western, far west and other remote areas of Australia.
The Rural Health Precinct aims to contribute to the development of the rural medical workforce by providing training in an environment that delivers medical graduates and doctors with the aptitude, knowledge and skills to provide quality care for rural, regional and remote Australia.
