At the University of Sydney, we offer three postgraduate coursework degrees focusing on brain and mind sciences so you can choose how much you study in order to match your goals.

We have postgraduate coursework options available to both medical and non-medical graduates including our Graduate Certificate in Brain and Mind Sciences, Graduate Diploma in Brain and Mind Sciences, or Master of Brain and Mind Sciences.

All our courses are available full-time or part-time so you can tailor your study around what works best for you.*

Our programs are conducted at the Brain and Mind Centre which hosts specialised clinics targeting autism spectrum disorder, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, dementia, youth mental health, addiction, sleep disorders and brain ageing, all integrated with active clinical research programs.

Additionally, the Brain and Mind Centre features preclinical laboratories at the forefront of studies related to neurodevelopment, epilepsy, addiction, Alzheimer’s disease and brain tumours, with a strength in drug discovery.

With a robust focus on translational technologies, including expertise in neuroimaging and regenerative medicine, students have the unique opportunity to engage with cutting-edge research and explore innovative solutions to complex neurological and mental health challenges.

4. Diverse career opportunities

Graduates can pursue careers as scientists within various sectors, including science organisations, biotech industries, pharmaceutical companies, and government bodies, or within university-based environments.

The Brain and Mind Centre unites a wide array of experts to form extensive research teams focused on child development, youth mental health, and neurodegeneration related to ageing.

You can be part the research that comes out of the Centre by undertaking a Master of Philosophy (Medicine and Health) or Doctor of Philosophy (Medicine and Health).
