Materials on the nanoscale

Harnessing nanomaterials to solve technical challenges
The materials on the nanoscale domain applies the latest discoveries and techniques in materials science and engineering to synthesise and apply innovative materials to ensure a sustainable future for humanity.

Understanding matter at the nanoscale is opening up an entirely new world of knowledge. We are applying our research using innovative methods to solve challenges through:

  • synthesis of nanomaterials, nanocomposites, nanotubes, nanowires, nanoparticles and carbon-based materials
  • advanced physical and chemical characterisation of materials and the development of new characterisation technology and methods
  • engineering materials for energy conversion and storage, sensors, biomedical application, tissue process, imaging, light emitting, sustainable manufacturing and environmentally safe chemical process.

We bring together academic staff, post-doctoral research fellows and postgraduate students from across the University who have expertise in relevant disciplines such as: advanced materials, chemical engineering, physics, aerospace mechanical and mechatronic engineering, chemistry, and bio-engineering.
