The molecular nanoscience domain encompasses research into the mechanisms of assembly, structure and function of nanomaterials, along with a focus on their atomic and molecular composition.

The nanomaterials and nanoscale processes we study are either present in natural systems (DNA, peptides, proteins, biopolymers, membranes, nanostructured biological surfaces) or are made in the laboratory (micelles, colloids, nanoparticles, synthetic polymers, complex fluids, interfaces, nanostructured functional surfaces).

The molecular nanoscience research domain brings together researchers from across the University who have expertise in these fields. We welcome academics, post-doctoral research fellows and postgraduate students from the Schools of Chemistry, Physics, Aerospace Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Life and Environmental Sciences.
