The University’s 2032 Strategy aims to deliver transformational change that is user-centred and clearly understood. The Policy Transformation Project serves this aim by delivering a better way to develop, write, and access our policies. Our new approach is designed to make University life easier.
Rules are made by the University Senate. They take precedence over any other document in the Policy Register.
Policies state who does what and why. They set out principles, and roles and responsibilities, to help guide decision making.
Procedures set out when, where, and how we do things. They include specific roles, actions, and steps to give instructions and standardise our processes.
Local provisions set out principles and instructions that only apply to a particular faculty, school, or administrative unit.
Guidelines provide context, detail, and recommendations for good practice. They are not mandatory.
The Policy and Compliance Law (PCL) team within the Office of General Counsel manages the University’s policy and compliance frameworks.
Within the PCL team, the Policy Management Unit manages the Policy Register and oversees quality assurance for all our policies.
