The outcome of this year-long study is a dissertation of 15,000 words that should demonstrate a commitment to serious scholarship, a focussed investigation, disciplined editing and rigorous analysis.

It will introduce and develop students' awareness of recent musical scholarship and research methodologies and equip students with skills to design and conduct research across a wide variety of musical topics.
