Bring along your Year 10 and 11 students to explore what's involved in agricultural science research at the University of Sydney, applications for industry and available career options.
The day will include a visit to the Plant Breeding Institute, where students will learn about advanced breeding methods in crops; new research on measures to control and prevent cereal rust; and how scientists are helping to secure food for the future.
The students will also visit the Sheep Unit next door to gain insights into our research in, and use of reproductive technologies; ewe-nique teaching strategies for animal education; and best practice in sheep handling and management.
The other half of the day will include three fun, interactive workshops on subjects such as mushroom growing; behaviour and welfare of production animals; fish farming and more!
Places must be booked by teachers through your school. Homeschooled students can email us directly for further information.
