  • be a domestic student
  • apply for an undergraduate course commencing in Semester 1 or 2
  • be completing the NSW HSC (or any other Australian state or territory Year 12 qualification) or the IB diploma, the year before university admission (this includes students completing their studies outside of Australia)
  • achieve one of the following results in English or mathematics.

Frequently asked questions

Adjustment factors will automatically be added to your ATAR or combined rank following the release of your results to UAC. For most eligible students, this will mean that the adjustment factors will raise your selection rank by 3 or 5 points for eligible courses from December Round 2.

The Bachelor of Psychology, Bachelor of Veterinary Biology and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine award fewer points; see the eligible courses list for more information.

Following the release of your results to UAC, any adjustment factors will be automatically added to your ATAR-equivalent rank (called a Combined Rank) to raise your selection rank for eligible courses. For an IBAS/IB Score to Combined Rank conversion table, see UAC.

No. Adjustment factors do not accumulate if you have achieved the required result in more than one subject.

For example, if you were applying for the Bachelor of Science and achieved a Band 5 in Mathematics Advanced (which awards 3 adjustment factors) and a Band 5 in English Advanced (which awards 3 adjustment factors), you would receive 3 adjustment factors total.

As long as you have not undertaken any tertiary study, you can still receive adjustment factors from this scheme for up to one year after you complete Year 12 or the IB Diploma.

For example, if you finish the NSW HSC in 2026, the scheme would apply to the 2027 Semester 1 and 2 intakes.
