We care about more than just your ATAR
E12 is your chance to show us what makes you unique and what your individual contribution will bring to the University of Sydney.
Your community involvement and the activities you do outside of school tell us as much about you as your exam results do. To recognise these achievements, the E12 scheme awards you with a first year scholarship, and a formal UAC offer in the main offer round by meeting a reduced E12 ATAR.
Your application for E12 is your opportunity to tell us more about yourself and what motivates you.
To be eligible for E12 in 2023, you will need to be assessed by UAC via their Educational Access Scheme (EAS) as one or more of the following.
Experiencing one or more category under financial hardship (F01A, F01B, F01C and F01D). You will need to make an application to UAC’s Educational Access Scheme (EAS) under the financial hardship category that applies to you. Please note that F01S and F01K are not included in the E12 eligibility criteria.
You must upload the supporting documentation required by UAC for your EAS application by 11.59pm on Thursday 15 September 2022.
Or;
Residing at the time of your UAC application in an area identified by the Australian Bureau of Statistics socio-economic indexes for areas SEIFA (AG01) as being in the lowest 25 percent of socio-economic disadvantage in Australia.
UAC will automatically generate an EAS application for you if the residential address you enter in your UAC undergraduate application meets the criteria. If an EAS application is generated for you under this category, UAC will provide you with a confirmation email stating that an EAS application has been generated for you under the AG01 EAS category within 48 hours of completion of your application for undergraduate admission.
Or;
You attended a NSW rural or regional school during Year 11 and/or 12 or equivalent (S01R, S01C). UAC will automatically generate an EAS application for you if the school you attended during Year 11 and/or 12 is classified as an Australian rural or regional school. If an application is generated for you, UAC will email you within 48 hours of completion of your application for admission.

Once you have received your ATAR in December, if you meet the conditions on your E12 conditional offer letter, including any additional admission criteria and have the course listed as your highest eligible preference in UAC, you will receive a formal unconditional offer.
If you haven’t met the requirements of your E12 conditional offer, or if you’ve changed your mind about the course you wish to study, you can change your E12 course preference to be considered for an offer in UAC rounds once you’ve received your ATAR. If you’ve met the E12 ATAR and any other admission requirements of the new course, place it as your highest eligible preference and you’ll receive an unconditional offer!*

Explore these residential accommodation options that have scholarships available to successful E12 applicants. Some offer a fee waiver to applicants, contact the accommodation by email before starting your application to discuss.
If you wish to defer your E12 offer and scholarship, please refer to the E12 Scholarships terms and conditions, and follow the instructions to seek prior approval. Please note that not all courses can be deferred.
The E12 Scholarship is paid in two equal instalments in your first year of study. Scholarship holders can expect to receive their payments around 30 days after the census date for each semester. If you have any issues receiving your scholarship, please check for any in-tray messages in Sydney Student portal.
If you haven’t met the requirements of your E12 conditional offer, or if you’ve changed your mind about the course you wish to study, you can change your E12 course preference to be considered for an offer to a different E12 course in UAC rounds once you’ve received your ATAR. Ensure the E12 course you want most is listed as your highest eligible preference. You can list multiple E12 courses in your preference list and we’ll make you an offer to the highest course you are eligible for.*
*A small number of E12 courses have limited places and courses may be full after the November conditional offer round or subsequent UAC offer rounds.
Yes, you can accept the E12 scholarship with other scholarships except MySydney. Please consult the terms and conditions of each scholarship when making decisions as to which scholarships to accept.
You will automatically be offered the MySydney Scholarship due to its higher value. You need to accept your offer and enrol to study at the University of Sydney as well as accept your MySydney Scholarship through the scholarships portal in Sydney Student. You cannot accept both an E12 and MySydney Scholarship.
If you are offered both the E12 and MySydney Scholarship, you only accept one of them. If you have been offered MySydney, but would prefer to accept the E12 scholarship due to other scholarships you have been offered, please contact admission.pathways@sydney.edu.au for advice.
If you are eligible for the MySydney Scholarship, you will be notified via email after 14 November 2022.
If you received a notification that an Educational Access Application was automatically generated for you, and you meet the low socio-economic status category, it does not mean that you are eligible for MySydney.
UAC’s Educational Access Scheme (EAS) uses the low socio-economic indicator based on ABS’s Index of Relative Socio-Economic Disadvantage (IRSD). On the other hand, MySydney uses the low socio-economic indicator based on ABS’s Index of Education and Occupation (IEO).
Please note that there may be students who are identified as low socio-economic under both EAS and MySydney. We will notify students via email about their MySydney eligibility.
Whether you can accept your MySydney Scholarship with other scholarships will depend on each scholarship’s terms and conditions. In some cases, you may not be able to hold the MySydney Scholarship with other scholarships including E12. You must refer to the terms and conditions of the scholarships you have been offered.
The indicative MySydney ATARs will not apply to you if you applied through E12 and have a conditional offer to that course. You will still be assessed against the guaranteed E12 ATARs.
You can get more information at our MySydney Entry Scheme and Scholarship page.
The E12 Scheme identifies NSW Year 12 high school students who have the potential to succeed at the University of Sydney and provides an admission pathway for their next step to lifelong learning.
We invite you to encourage students who are eligible, who have the potential to succeed and would thrive on the opportunities offered by a University of Sydney education to apply.
Once a student has submitted their application, you will be able to submit a supporting SRS rating through UAC.
Principals and relevant staff will have until 11.59pm 4 October 2022 to submit SRS ratings.
