The Implementation Group was established to advise the Vice-Chancellor and the University on how best to implement the principles of the Model Code for the Protection of Freedom of Speech and Academic Freedom in Australian Higher Education and it held its second meeting on Thursday 8 August.
Chaired by the University’s General Counsel, Richard Fisher AM, the Implementation Group agreed it is vital staff, students, alumni and other members of the University community have an opportunity to provide feedback on former High Court Chief Justice Robert French’s Model Code as recently amended by a working group of university chancellors.
The Implementation Group is keen to hear the views of the University community about the Model Code and its possible adoption by the University.
As a first step in the process of consultation, it would welcome any comments students and staff would like to provide on the Model Code by close of business Monday 26 August.
Feedback can be sent to the Group through the Higher Education Policy and Projects team in the Vice-Chancellor’s office: firstname.lastname@example.org.
