Make a plan before you come

Before the day, you and your child can explore all the activities on offer in more detail and create your own schedule based on what's of interest. With over 170 mini lectures, as well as advice centres, campus tours, hands-on activities and entertainment on offer, your schedule can give some structure to your day as well as peace of mind knowing you and your child won't be missing out on what's important. Visit the Open Day website or download the app to easily access all you need for Open Day on your phone (including a map!)

Start with key lectures

Open Day is your invitation to familiarise yourself with the wide range of courses and opportunities we offer here at the University. From mini-lectures on the Sydney Undergraduate Experience, to talks about different admissions pathways, scholarships, and the many different areas of study, sitting in on key lectures will give you important information about the University and your child's options. Find out which lectures are relevant to you, and those you shouldn't miss.

Receive personalised advice

Every university experience is different, and that's why it's important to get advice that is tailored to your child. Open Day is a great opportunity to get one-on-one advice: you can talk to our academics, staff and current students about anything from a specific area of study, to accessing support services, or applying for a scholarship, so that you are and your child are well-equipped for the start of university. We recommend visiting the course advice centres

Take a campus tour (or two!)

Our amazing Camperdown campus is something we are proud of, but its size can seem overwhelming. A campus tour is the best way to explore the University and get an insider's look at our key facilities, classrooms, and support services as well as some of the most beautiful spots on campus. Camperdown campus tours run every 30 minutes from 9am by our friendly student ambassadors, with a range of other tours running at specific times. Once you've toured the Camperdown campus, take a free shuttle bus to explore one of our other campuses where our students study - the Sydney Conservatorium of Music

Meet our clubs and societies

Making new friends is a daunting part of leaving school and starting university, but the University of Sydney Union's Clubs and Societies are here to help. Representatives from some of our hundreds of clubs and societies will be at Open Day so that come Welcome Week, your child will know some friendly faces with shared interests - whether that be music, sport, or chocolate.

Explore accommodation options

Whether your child is planning to live at home, on campus, or in share housing during their studies, getting to know the pros and cons of all available accommodation options is important. Have your questions answered by the Student Accommodation Services team in the Quadrangle so that you can be across the cost, location and application deadlines for on and off campus living. They can give you information on moving to Sydney, living on campus in residences or other options, or living on campus in colleges, as well as accommodation tours running all day to see first-hand all the options available.
