Our team

Director Professor Greg Fox leads the Sydney Southeast Asia Centre’s strategic and operational management, supported by Professor Tiho Ancev, Deputy Director, Research Development, Associate Professor Sandra Alday, Deputy Director, Partnerships and Olivia Simmons, Chief Operating Officer. The Centre’s operations are overseen by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global and Research Engagement).

Our Advisory Committee includes external members who provide advice, support and direction to the Centre. They serve as a source of independent advice to the Centre’s leadership team regarding the strategy and external engagement.

The Centre is also supported by a Leaderships Group composed of academic members associated with the Centre, Country Convenors and Grand Challenge Champions.

Country Convenors serve as focal points for activities related to each country in the region. They advise on strategic developments in different countries and bring together researchers across the University of Sydney who work in the eleven countries of the region.

Our Grand Challenge Champions help advance the University of Sydney’s strategic engagement with Southeast Asia by fostering multidisciplinary research and academic leadership.
