The Finance of Health

Wednesday 30 Oct from 12 - 2 pm @ Sydney Knowledge Hub Lounge

Enabling translation from bench to bedside -  Market access & health economics

Economic evaluation offers a framework to systematically compare technologies, ensuring that all relevant alternatives are clearly identified, analysed and evaluated. Health technology assessment (HTA), a specific application of health economics, underpins funding decisions for medical innovations in Australia, Europe and many other countries.

During this session, Katrina Lapham from Biointelect will provide an in-depth overview of HTA and the adjacent policy interactions in Australia and major global markets. You will end up learning:

  • the role of economic evaluation and HTA
  • the importance of developing the required evidence throughout the technology translation and commercialisation pathway.
  • There will be an opportunity to test your own product’s value proposition from an HTA/payer perspective.
