Graduates of the Graduate Diploma in Psychology degree will:

1 Evaluate and apply advanced theoretical knowledge of the foundational principles, concepts, and theories of psychological knowledge, including neuroscience, biological bases of behaviour, perception, learning, cognition, development, emotion, individual differences in capacity, behaviour, and personality, social psychology, psychological disorders and evidence-based interventions, psychological health and wellbeing, and the history and philosophy of psychology as a science and a practice.
2 Evaluate complex quantitative, qualitative, participatory, and conceptual psychological research methods with high-level and independent judgement, and formulate research questions, align appropriate methods to research objectives, gather and analyse data, interpret findings, and communicate all aspects of the research process.
3 Analyse, synthesise, and critically evaluate the historical, philosophical, social, cultural, and geopolitical influences on psychological knowledge and psychological research methods, acknowledge multiple ways of knowing, including those of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and demonstrate reflexivity in applying psychological knowledge and implementing psychological research methods.
4 Critically analyse the integrity of psychological knowledge and psychological research methods with ethical consideration, and independently apply psychology-informed ethical
decision-making to diverse personal and professional contexts.
5 Demonstrate psychology-informed critical thinking and problem solving by integrating multiple perspectives, assessing the credibility and validity of sources, identifying cognitive biases, and employing advanced reasoning, and ultimately generating solutions to complex problems based on psychological knowledge and psychological research methods.
6 Communicate psychological knowledge and psychological research methods through multimodal formats and to diverse audiences, demonstrate digital literacy by engaging with tools appropriate to each context in an ethical and responsible manner, and demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills
7 Demonstrate awareness of personal strengths, limitations, self-care, and self-regulation practices, demonstrate understanding, inclusivity, and cooperation in teamwork, and demonstrate effective leadership by modelling culturally responsive and psychosocially safe practices in personal, professional, interprofessional, and interdisciplinary contexts
