The University of Sydney Nepean Clinical School is a network of teaching hospitals centred in the Nepean Hospital precinct at the base of the Blue Mountains, near Penrith.
Our teaching hospitals include Nepean Hospital, Nepean Private Hospital and Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital, and we are home to over 20 medical and surgical disciplines.
As part of the Sydney Medical School, we provide invaluable learning opportunities for attending medical students and research opportunities in over 20 medical and surgical disciplines.
Student placements are major components of most of our health courses and integral to gaining your professional accreditation. In most courses, course-required placements are embedded from the first year and increase as you progress in your degree.
Elective placements are also offered through our clinical schools to internal and external medical students in their final year of study who wish to expand their knowledge in a specialty area or across a variety of clinical settings.
Our researchers are dedicated to improving health through excellence in research, creating new knowledge and fostering innovation and research at the highest level.
The Nepean Clinical School primarily teaches out of Nepean Hospital and Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital.
The Nepean Hospital precinct is currently experiencing tremendous growth as part of the $1 billion Nepean Redevelopment Project.
The hospital will soon be able to support communities within and outside of Sydney’s western suburbs, providing world-class clinical facilities, services and care.
The Nepean Clinical School operates out of two sites – the Nepean Clinical School Building and Level 5 Building D, Nepean Hospital.
The Nepean Clinical School Building is a state of the art facility that houses education, clinical school administration, clinical research pods and NBMLHD outpatient clinics.
The building is purpose built for student education with a 90-seat auditorium, 10 tutorial rooms, computer labs and a large interactive clinical skills and teaching and practice space. We also have dedicated research laboratories for postgraduate research students.
