Evidence of Confirmation of Placement
To provide confirmation of your placement for the Faculty of Medicine and Health Rural Placement Travel Scholarship, please log in to Sonia, navigate to the Forms section, and select the 2025 FMH Rural Travel Scholarship Placement form.
This form will generate a letter confirming your placement, which must be submitted as part of your application. In addition, please upload your HETI Rural Grant Clinical Placement Support letter. This can be generated by selecting the relevant form in Sonia and will serve as evidence of your first rural placement, supporting your application for your second rural placement in 2025.
Please note that both documents are required for your application to be considered eligible.
The Scholarship is valued up to $1000 ($100 per week for each week of the placement, maximum 10 weeks).
The value of the Scholarship will be indicated in the offer letter.

This Scholarship was established in 2025 with the aim of providing financial support to students pursuing mandatory coursework placements within the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney.
1. Background
a. This Scholarship was established in 2025 with the aim of providing financial support to students pursuing mandatory coursework placements within the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney.
b. This Scholarship has been funded by the Faculty of Medicine and Health, University of Sydney.
c. This Scholarship is to provide financial support for students either undertaking a second rural placement or a rural placement not in receipt of a NSW Rural Allied Health Clinical Placement Grant (HETI).
2. Eligibility
a. Applicants must be currently enrolled full-time in any Unit of Study session code for Semester 2 2025 in one of the following coursework degrees within the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney:
I. Bachelor of Applied Science (Diagnostic Radiography)
II. Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise and Sport Science)
III. Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise Physiology)
IV. Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy)
V. Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy)
VI. Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology)
VII. Bachelor of Nursing (Advanced Studies)
VIII. Master of Diagnostic Radiography
IX. Master of Exercise Physiology
X. Master of Occupational Therapy
XI. Master of Physiotherapy
XII. Doctor of Physiotherapy
XIII. Master of Speech Language Pathology
XIV. Master of Nursing
XV. Master of Nutrition and Dietetics.
b. Applicants must be a domestic or international student.
c. Nursing student applicants must not be applying for or in receipt of a Commonwealth Prac Payment.
d. Applicants who have already received a NSW Rural Allied Health Clinical Placement Grant (HETI) in the same calendar year or are not eligible for a NSW Rural Allied Health Clinical Placement Grant (HETI) (international students) are eligible for this scholarship.
e. Applicants must be undertaking a mandatory placement as part of their award course requirements. The placement location must be more than 60km from both the University of Sydney and their residential address as provided in Sydney Student, in a rural classified location under the Rural, Remote and Metropolitan Area (RRMA) system or the Modified Monash Model (MMM 3–7).
f. Applicants must provide written confirmation of their second placement from the Faculty of Medicine and Health (FMH) Student Placements team in their application.
3. Selection Criteria
a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of confirmation of a second rural placement in the same calendar year or confirmation of a student’s ineligibility to apply for a NSW Rural Allied Health Clinical Placement Grant (HETI) because they are an international student.
b. The Scholarship will be awarded by the Associate Dean Education of the Faculty of Medicine and Health, or their nominated delegate(s).
4. Value
a. The Scholarship is valued up to $1000 ($100 per week for each week of the placement, maximum 10 weeks). The value of the Scholarship will be indicated in the offer letter.
b. The Scholarship will be paid as a one-off payment on receipt of the Scholarship Acceptance form.
c. Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted.
d. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.
e. No other amount is payable.
5. Ongoing eligibility
a. None apply.
6. Termination
a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:
i. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,
ii. withdraws from the mandatory placement,
iii. commences part-time study without prior approval,
iv. withdraws from the purpose for which the Scholarship was awarded,
v. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance, or
vi. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application.
b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless the termination was due to University error.
c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct, or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
