Business placements, projects and study tours

Job Smart Edge (in-curriculum)

The Job Smart Edge (in-curriculum) offers an early and practical start to career development by integrating industry-focused experience directly into the curriculum. You’ll work in groups to solve a real client project challenge, learning and applying the innovative problem solving and leadership skills taught through the unit to help you ensure your employability success.

The unit will be delivered over six weeks during the Intensive October session 2026, running from Monday 21 September to Sunday 1 November, including the mid-semester break.

In this unit you will:

  • develop employability skills and tools to work effectively in an organisation
  • apply the skills you have developed as part of the Job Smart Edge (extra-curricular) activities and take it a step further as you develop your project into real-world outputs such as peer reviews and business-style reports
  • receive a total of six credit points towards your degree by successfully completing the Business School elective or selective unit of study.

The unit cannot count towards your major, minor or specialisation. As you’ll need to have at least six credit points of elective or selective space available to participate, we recommend planning your degree early to leave yourself room. Check your handbook for more information on how this unit can contribute towards your degree.

Once enrolled in the program, make sure you read the student responsibilities statement to ensure you understand your responsibilities.

A minimum enrolment number is required for the unit to proceed. If minimum numbers are not met the unit may be cancelled.

This unit is open to eligible postgraduate international Business School students.
