Step 1: Start your application

To apply, you have two options.

Option 1

Apply for credit at the same time as you're applying for internal course transfer.

  1. While completing your internal course application in Sydney Student, we’ll ask if you want to submit an application for credit.
  2. If you select Yes, you'll be prompted to create your credit application once you've submitted your internal course application.

Option 2

You can also apply later, or after you submit your internal course transfer application. Note that we won't process your course application until you've submitted your credit application.

To apply, log in to Sydney Student, then go to Applications > My application > Submit or cancel your application for credit.

Step 2: Select majors, programs or specialisations

Select your intended majors, program, or specialisations.

  • You may have more than one.
  • If your course doesn’t have these, leave the drop-down field as 'No Selection'.
  • If yours aren't listed, add them as additional information later in your application.

Step 3: Add credit items

In the 'Add credit or RVL item' section, add an individual credit item for every unit of study you would like to apply for. You need to do this one at a time.

Units you completed at the University of Sydney

  1. For Type, select 'Credit'.
  2. For Credit learning type, select 'Higher education'.
  3. Enter 'University of Sydney' as your institution.
  4. For Course name, enter the course you completed the units under.
  5. Complete the remaining fields about the unit you studied, then click Add item to add it to your application.

To add another item, repeat the steps.

Units you completed at another institution

  1. For Type, select 'Credit'.
  2. For Credit learning type, select depending on the institution where you completed your previous studies. This could either be:
    • higher education, or
    • VET (vocational education and training).
  3. Enter the name of the institution where you completed your studies.
    • If you can’t find it in the list, try a different name. For example, you’ll find UTS as ‘University of Technology, Sydney’.
    • If you are unable to add your institution, select 'unknown'.
  4. Complete the remaining fields about the unit you studied, then click Add item to add it to your application.

To add another item, repeat the steps.

Step 4: Upload course outlines

Skip this step for units you completed at the University of Sydney.

Otherwise, you need to upload course outlines for each credit item you add.

  1. In 'Application summary', click Upload in the 'Course outline' column.
  2. Upload the course outline.

To add another unit of study, click Copy.

Step 5: Upload transcripts

Skip this step for units you completed at the University of Sydney.

Make sure you’ve read the detailed requirements on What you’ll need to apply.

  • You'll need to attach a certified copy of your official academic transcript from each of the institutions you completed study at.
  • Include your name and Student ID in the file name.

To upload your supporting documents:

  1. In Sydney Student, in the 'Supporting documents' section, select 'Transcript' as the document type from the drop-down list.
  2. Select Upload, then find the document you want to attach.

Step 6: Review and submit your application

Once you've provided all the required information and documents, select Submit to finalise your application. If you’d like to return to it later, select Save and continue your application by restarting these steps.
