The University of Sydney Union (USU) has a bumper line-up of events happening on campus every night of the week. From parties to gigs to student band nights, check out what’s on to help get you through the semester.
TBC Tuesdays
Hit up Hermann’s after class on a Tuesday for alternating trivia, bingo and comedy nights each week. Sharpen your trivia brains, laughing muscles and bingo…fingers? Get in early to score some cheap drinks and bags the best seats in the house – the fun kicks off from 5pm.
Wednesday Band Night
Support student talent and see some great live music by coming along to Band Night at Hermann’s on a Wednesday. Performances start from 4pm. Who knows, you might be lucky enough to see the next big Aussie band in action!
For so long the USU has wanted to revive campus after dark and I’m so excited that we’re finally seeing people in our bars and listening to live music. We have such talented local artists and so many cool events lined up, uni nightlife is really coming back in a big way.
Thursday DJ gigs
Did you know DJ Soc is a real thing? Now you do. The USU’s DJ society runs DJ teaching sessions on campus, and support up and coming student DJs. If you want to support their work and get front row seats to some of the best new DJ talent, come along to Hermann’s every second Thursday night. Live DJ sets begin from 5pm.
Friday Courtyard Sessions
There’s no better way to warm up your weekend than by heading to Courtyard on a Friday arvo from 4pm. Grab some friends, score cheap food and happy hour drinks, and kick back and enjoy live performances from student musicians.
Party at Manning
As well as all these regular events, the USU is bringing back on-campus parties in a big way this year. The first big party will be at Manning Bar on April 13. With massive sets from Riton (UK), Mashd N Kutcher, Kinder and DJ Soc, as well as cheap drinks and delicious authentic Mexican street food from Tacos Muchachos, you don’t want to miss this.
