Exploring Indonesia research, insights and collaboration

Join researchers from across the University of Sydney for a showcase of Indonesia-focused research, highlighting new thinking across disciplines on Indonesia’s evolving challenges and opportunities.

Building on the University’s long history of engagement with Indonesia, dating back to the establishment of Australia’s first Indonesian studies department in the 1950s, the event will feature current research across environment, language, law, culture, economics and health.

Chaired by SSEAC’s Indonesia Country Convenor Associate Professor Jeff Neilson, the showcase will bring together projects that deepen understanding, inform policy and support future collaboration across Indonesia and the region.

Why attend?

  • Discover cutting-edge Indonesia-focused research across disciplines
  • Connect with the University’s growing network of Indonesia-related researchers
  • Explore opportunities for future collaboration and research engagement
  • Gain fresh insights from presenters with deep regional knowledge and diverse disciplinary expertise

Whether you’re a researcher, policymaker, student, or simply curious about Indonesia’s dynamic role in the region, this event offers a unique window into the University’s vibrant academic engagement with the country.

The event will conclude with an Indonesian social lunch, offering time to continue conversations and build connections.
