The Sydney Global Health Research Symposium is a flagship event showcasing the depth, diversity and impact of global health research across Sydney’s leading universities.
This year’s theme, Pathways from collaboration to impact, focuses on how meaningful partnerships can translate into real-world health outcomes. Expanding beyond a single institution, the Symposium brings together researchers from across the University of Sydney, University of New South Wales and other leading universities in Sydney — creating a unique platform for cross-institutional collaboration.
The half-day program will feature a keynote address, interactive panel discussions, research spotlights and facilitated breakout sessions. Together, these sessions will explore how researchers can build effective, ethical collaborations; navigate pathways to impact through implementation, policy and community engagement; and strengthen partnerships with healthcare consumers and regional stakeholders.
With a strong focus on supporting early- and mid-career researchers (EMCRs) and HDR students, the Symposium offers practical insights into collaboration, research impact and funding opportunities, while fostering a community grounded in equity, integrity and reciprocity.
This in-person event is a unique opportunity to connect, learn and advance global health research across Sydney’s academic community.
The Sydney Global Health Research Symposium 2026 is jointly hosted by the Sydney Southeast Asia Centre, the Sydney Infectious Diseases Institute, and the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney.
