Overview

Electroencephalography (EEG) forms the basis of multiple neurophysiological techniques and is a powerful diagnostic tool.

The clinical neurophysiology units of study are the only postgraduate coursework of its kind in Australia, providing a structured curriculum in neurophysiological monitoring to complement experiential learning. 

This professional certificate will provide an educational and certification opportunity for neurology physicians and trainees to improve their understanding and practice of epileptology, including pathophysiology and diagnostic techniques.

  • Advanced Electroencephalography (CLNP5004)

What you'll study

The professional certificate requires completion of 12 credit points of units of study.

The units of study are taught mainly online. Each unit has a compulsory two day practical workshop at a University of Sydney teaching hospital.

Admission criteria

Admission to the Sydney Professional Certificate in Diagnostic Electroencephalography requires:

  • a medical degree from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification; and 
  • an accredited trainee position or Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Physicians in neurology or equivalent.

After completing a Sydney Professional Certificate in Diagnostic Electroencephalography you may progress on to the below courses if you meet requirements.
