About this course

Revolutionise the medical world. The combined Bachelor of Advanced Computing and Bachelor of Science (Medical Science) program will develop your knowledge and skills in computing. You will also gain foundational knowledge and research skills in medical science, biomedicine and bioinformatics.

As medical research becomes increasingly dependent on technology, the demand for professionals with technical knowledge across both computing and the medical sciences is expected to soar.

The Bachelor of Advanced Computing is accredited by the Australian Computer Society and designed to foster your ability to work across the computing, information technology and business innovation industries.

First year covers the core skills you will need to become a computing  professional before you specialise in a major that aligns with your preferred career pathway computer science, information systems, software development or computational data science.

Complementing your computing studies, the Bachelor of Science (Medical Science) provides an essential foundation in the structure and function of the human body, from molecules through to whole systems.

Core units in the Medical Science major will ensure you develop a breadth of knowledge across fields such as anatomy, cellular and molecular biochemistry, human physiology, immunobiology, infectious diseases, pharmacology and microbiology, and you will have the opportunity to specialise in your senior units.

You can complete this combined degree program in five years of full-time study, after which you will graduate with two qualifications. As diverse and innovative career opportunities emerge across the public and commercial sectors, your skills and experiences will enable you to change our world for the better.

Mathematics or HSC Mathematics Extension 1, Chemistry and either Physics or Biology.

Embedded Honours program

This course has an embedded Honours program, with all students undertaking a research thesis in the final year. Honours will be awarded to students who achieve a sufficient standard of merit.
