Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the Diploma of Language Studies, students will be able to:

1 Communicate in a language other than English for a variety of purposes and a range of contexts.
2 Demonstrate an understanding of cultural and social issues of the country and community where that language is spoken.
3 Demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate ideas and information relating to that language, culture and history in written and oral form by using appropriate presentation techniques.
4 Integrate linguistic and cultural skills to develop innovative interpretations and solutions to issues encountered cross-cultural contexts.
5 Apply ethical principles to decision making for a variety of tasks.
6 Demonstrate the skills and confidence to work collaboratively and ethically across linguistic and cultural boundaries.
