The scholarships is valued at $10,000 and is tenable for the elective term period.
This scholarship has been donated by the estate of the late Beatrice Mary Taylor (A M Taylor Fund).
a. This Scholarship was established in 2008 to provide assistance to students undertaking an Elective Term in Orthopaedic and Traumatic Surgery.
b. This Scholarship has been donated by the estate of the late Beatrice Mary Taylor (AM Taylor Fund).
a. To be eligible for the Scholarship, applicants must:
I. be an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident,
II. be currently enrolled in Stage 3 and Year 3 of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) at the University of Sydney, and
III. have been accepted to undertake an eight-week Elective Term or two four-week Elective Terms in Orthopaedic and Traumatic Surgery at approved institution(s).
a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:
I. academic merit,
II. curriculum vitae,
III. references, and
IV. a personal statement.
b. Applicants may be required to attend an interview.
c. The Scholarship will be awarded by the Head of School and Dean of the Sydney Medical School, or their nominated delegate.
a. The Scholarship is valued at up to $10,000 and is tenable for the Elective Term Period only.
b. The Scholarship value will be paid in two instalments.
c. The first instalment of $5,000 will be paid prior to the Elective Term, upon submission of the recipient’s budget and itinerary (including accommodation and airfare), confirmation of the placement, and approval from the relevant Head of Clinical School.
d. The second instalment of up to $5,000 will be paid after the Elective Term, following timely submission of the recipient’s Elective Report and other Elective assessment requirements, provided they are of sufficient merit.
e. Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted and it is not transferable to another University school or faculty or university.
f. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.
g. No other amount is payable.

a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:
I. withdraws from the eligible course or fails to enrol,
II. fails to complete the approved Elective Term,
III. commences part-time study without prior approval,
IV. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance,
V. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application,
VI. is awarded an alternative Scholarship for their Sydney Medical School Elective Term placement. In such circumstances this Scholarship will be terminated in favour of the alternative Scholarship where the alternative Scholarship is of higher value,
VII. does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave, or
VIII. any other provision as indicated in these terms that would lead to termination.
b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated.
c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or withdraws from the relevant course, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
a. The recipient of this Scholarship is required to submit a one page summary of learning outcomes for the donor.
