The maximum value of this scholarship will be $3000 per successful recipient, dependent on the location and duration of the elective term.
The scholarship is intended to facilitate travel and is tenable for the approved elective term placement period only.

Established in 2007, this Scholarship was established to provide assistance to students studying a Doctor of Medicine and undertaking an international Elective Term placement.
1. Background
a. This Scholarship was established in 2007 to provide assistance to students studying a Doctor of Medicine and undertaking an international Elective Term placement.
2. Eligibility
a. Applicants must be currently enrolled full-time in a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Sydney.
b. Applicants must be undertaking an Elective Term overseas for a minimum duration of four weeks.
3. Selection Criteria
a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:
I. academic merit,
II. curriculum vitae,
III. references, and
IV. a personal statement.
b. Applicants may be required to attend an interview.
c. The Scholarship will be awarded by the Head of School and Dean of the Sydney Medical School, or their nominated delegates.
4. Value
a. The value of the Scholarship is dependent on the location and duration of the Elective Term, and will be determined by the Head of School and Dean of the Sydney Medical School, or their nominated delegates. The maximum value of the Scholarship is up to $3,000.
b. The Scholarship value will be paid as a one-off payment upon receipt of the signed Terms and Conditions and Acceptance Form.
c. The Scholarship is intended to facilitate travel and is tenable for the Elective Term placement period only.
d. The Scholarship is only tenable for the approved institution/placement that the applicant applied for as part of their Elective Term.
e. Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted.
f. The Scholarship cannot be transferred to another faculty, University school or university.
g. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.
h. Travel insurance will be provided by the University of Sydney in accordance with University policy.
i. No other amount is payable.
5. Termination
a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:
I. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to re-enrol as directed,
II. makes a change to their Elective Term placement without first notifying the Sydney Medical School,
III. commences part-time study without prior approval of the Head of School and Dean, The University of Sydney Medical School,
IV. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance,
V. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application,
VI. is awarded an alternative scholarship for their Sydney Medical School Elective Term placement. In such circumstances this Scholarship will be terminated in favour of the alternative scholarship where the alternative scholarship is of higher value, or
VII. does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave.
b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.
c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
