Early Career Researcher Retreat

Dedicating time and space to disconnect and reconnect through writing
Early career researchers researching Southeast Asia and based in the Greater Sydney region are invited to attend a dedicated writing retreat at the Sydney Southeast Asia Centre. This retreat is designed to provide you with some much-needed company and motivation to continue with your research in what has been a challenging year.

Who: Early career researchers with interests in Southeast Asia who are based in the Greater Sydney region
When: 09:30am-5pm, 7-9 December 2020 (half day on 9 December)
Where: ACRE Eatery, Camperdown

2020 has not been the year any of us expected. Maintaining motivation and productivity during a pandemic is difficult, and it is more important than ever to stay connected. SSEAC is delighted to invite you to join us at this very special writing retreat. Over three days, you will disconnect from the noise around you, reconnect with each other, and make inroads on your writing project.

The program will include structured writing time, facilitated workshops, and informal discussions and debriefing sessions. Expected outcomes of the retreat include:

  • Making meaningful progress on an academic output
  • Daily workshop sessions on planning and structuring your writing
  • Reflecting on your own writing habits and productivity
  • Connecting with other ECRs based in the Greater Sydney region

We regret that, due to public health and travel restrictions, this retreat is limited to applicants from the Greater Sydney region only.

Applications are now closed. Successful applicants will be notified by 4 December 2020.
