Join our SSEAC Residency Workshops to get tips and tricks on how to write a great academic article.

Who: Honours students, Masters by Research students, PhD candidates and Early Career Researchers at the University of Sydney with interests in Southeast Asia
When: 10am–12pm AEDT, 17–18 November 2022 & 6–7 February 2023
Where: Online via Zoom

Designed for Honours students, Masters by Research students, PhD candidates, and Early Career Researchers at the University of Sydney, the SSEAC Residency Workshops are designed to provide the support you need to write an academic article.

With targeted sessions on choosing an article focus, a publication outlet, reaching out to journal editors, and structuring and editing your article, these online workshops will smooth the way towards the publication of a peer-reviewed article based on your Southeast Asia-related research. As part of the workshop you will be placed in peer-review groups, providing the opportunity for targeted feedback on your article, as well as the opportunity to learn from your peers and expand your scholarly network.

Additional sessions will focus on topical aspects of academic professional development such as reviewing for journals or opportunities for publishing online with academic-focused blogs.

Participation in all modules is compulsory, as is attendance at the SSEAC Postgraduate Writing Retreat (21–23 November 2022) or the SSEAC EMCR Writing Retreat (23–25 November 2022) as applicable. Participants will be expected to submit their article following completion of all modules, and to acknowledge SSEAC support.

Participants who successfully complete the program and submit to a high-quality academic journal may also be invited to be interviewed for the SSEAC Stories podcast. Please refer to the eligibility and conditions for further information.

Applications are now closed.
