SSEAC Residency Workshops

Providing support to emerging scholars to write an article on their Southeast Asia-related research
Join our SSEAC Residency Workshops to get tips and tricks on how to write an outreach or academic article.

Who: Honours students, Master's by Research students, PhD candidates and Early Career Researchers at the University of Sydney with interests in Southeast Asia
When: 8-9 November 2021 & 3-4 February 2022
Where: Online via Zoom

Designed for Honours students, Master's by Research students, PhD candidates and Early Career Researchers at the University of Sydney, the SSEAC Residency Workshops are designed to provide the support you need to write an outreach or academic article. With targeted sessions on what area of your research to focus on, how to choose a publication outlet, reaching out to editors, and structuring and editing your article, these online workshops will smooth the way towards the publication of a popular or peer-reviewed article based on your Southeast Asia-related research. Additional sessions will focus on the peer review process, including giving and receiving feedback, and the benefits and expectations associated with participating in professional organisations.

These workshops are part of the SSEAC ECR Residency and SSEAC Student Residency initiative, which provides $1,000 for Honours students and PhD candidates, and $5,000 for Early Career Researchers. Participation in all modules is compulsory, as is attendance at the SSEAC Writing Retreat (in-person, COVID permitting). Participants will be expected to submit their article following completion of all modules, and to acknowledge SSEAC support. Particularly high-performing participants may also be invited to be interviewed for the SSEAC Stories podcast. Please refer to the eligibility and conditions for further information.

Applications are now open until Friday 22 October 2021.
