Workshop: How to pitch Thailand to funders

How have successful academics made a case for Thailand when pitching for research funding?
Hear from a panel of Thailand scholars on their best strategies to pitch Thailand to research funding bodies.

Who: Academics with research interests in Thailand
When: Thursday 26 May 2022 at 8am CEST / 1pm ICT / 3pm JST / 4pm AEST
Where: Online via Zoom

Academics from the social sciences and humanities around the world are under increasing pressure to secure external grants for research and promotion. Yet, recent years have seen ongoing defunding of the arts and social sciences in an already shrinking pool of public funding for researchers. Thailand scholars also face the additional challenge of having to justify why research on the country matters.

So how have successful academics made a case for Thailand when pitching for research funding?

This panel brings together Thailand scholars from a broad range of the social sciences and the humanities disciplines to discuss funding landscapes in Australia, the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States, Japan, and Thailand, to provide strategic advice on how to pitch Thailand to funders for researchers at all stages of their academic career.

Selected workshop participants will have an opportunity to submit their grant application ideas to one of the speakers to receive personalised feedback. The winner of the "best pitch on Thailand" will receive a funding support package that includes feedback on the grant proposal and professional copy-editing services.
