1 Demonstrate a wide body of knowledge of current of theoretical, pedagogical, and policy debates and recent developments in the areas of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).
2 Critically evaluate and apply research and teaching methodologies relevant to language learning, teaching, and assessment across diverse educational contexts.
3 Design, implement, and evaluate innovative research-informed curricula, lessons and materials that address the individual needs of linguistically and culturally diverse learners of English as a second or foreign language.
4 Evaluate and adapt complex language teaching and assessment methodologies and ideas using cognitive, technical, and creative skills to respond to complex classroom and institutional challenges.
5 Communicate complex theoretical and practical concepts, decisions and ideas effectively to specialist and non-specialist audiences using appropriate academic and professional discourse.
6 Demonstrate autonomy, initiative, and accountability in designing, implementing, and critically evaluating TESOL curricula, lessons or materials and learning experiences within course-based contexts.
7 Integrate intercultural competence and ethical awareness into professional practice, demonstrating sensitivity to learners’ linguistic, cultural, and individual differences.
8 Plan and execute a substantial research-based project or capstone project that contributes to professional knowledge and practice in TESOL.
