Bachelor of Education (Health and Physical Education)
Overview
The Bachelor of Education (Health and Physical Education) offers students a four-year full-time specialist professional qualification to teach in the key-learning area of personal development, health and physical education (PDHPE) and a second key learning area. The program will teach initial grounding in four HPE strands: health, physical education, sports science, and professional practice. Students also complete a second teaching area of specialisation.
While the course is dedicated mostly to teaching PDHPE in the secondary-school context, other examples of career opportunities include corporate training and human resource settings, community health, coaching, recreation, and sport.
Degree structure and requirements
Bachelor of Education (Health and Physical Education)
To qualify for the award of the Bachelor of Education (Health and Physical Education) degree, students must complete 192 credit points in total, comprising:
- 108 credit points in core units of study, as set out in Table A for the Bachelor of Education (Health and Physical Education);
- a 48 credit point major in Education Studies; and
- a minor (36 credit points) or a second teaching area (24 credit points); and
- an optional maximum of 6 credit points from Table O; and
- where appropriate, elective units from Table S.

The available minors and second teaching areas are listed in the course resolutions.
Note that second teaching areas are administered by the School of Education and Social Work in compliance with the NSW Education Standards Authority to meet appropriate admission standards for teacher accreditation. The requirements for these second teaching areas are defined in the schedule of teaching areas
