Pre-2023 course resolutions

The course resolutions detailed in this page apply to all courses included in the table below under section 1 (course codes).

These resolutions must be read in conjunction with applicable University By-laws, Rules and policies including (but not limited to) the University of Sydney (Coursework) Rule 2014 (the 'Coursework Rule'), the Coursework Policy 2021 (the 'Coursework Policy'), the Learning and Teaching Policy 2019, the Resolutions of the Faculty, University of Sydney (Student Academic Appeals) Rule 2021, the Academic Integrity Policy 2022 and the Academic Integrity Procedures 2022. 2  Attendance pattern

(1) The attendance pattern in the Bachelor of Pharmacy and the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) for these courses is full time only.

3  Faculty management

(1) Candidates will be under the general supervision of the Faculty of Medicine and Health for the duration of the degree.

4  Admission to candidature

(1) Admission to candidature in the Bachelor of Pharmacy and the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) is by transfer from Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) / Master of Pharmacy Practice, subject to the conditions of clause 13 of the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) / Master of Pharmacy Practice Resolutions being met.

5  Requirements for award

(1) The units of study that may be taken for the Bachelor of Pharmacy and Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) are set out in:

(a) Table A for the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) / Master of Pharmacy Practice

(b) Table S of the Shared Pool for Undergraduate Degrees; and

(c) Table O of the Shared Pool for Undergraduate Degrees.

(2) To qualify for the award of the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours), a candidate must complete 192 credit points comprising:

(a) 48 credit points of 1000-level core units from Table A;

(b) 42 credit points of 2000-level core units from Table A;

(c) 6 credit points from Table O or Table S;

(d) 48 credit points of 3000-level core units from Table A; and

(e) 48 credit points of 4000-level core units from Table A.

(f) Candidates must maintain a FMHHWAM [greater than or equal to] 65 across years two to four to qualify for the award of the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours).

(g) Candidates that do not maintain a FMHHWAM [greater than or equal to] 65 in the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) across years two to four, may qualify for the award of the Bachelor of Pharmacy.

(3) To qualify for the award of the Bachelor of Pharmacy, a candidate must complete 192 credit points comprising:

(a) 48 credit points of 1000-level core units from Table A;

(b) 42 credit points of 2000-level core units from Table A;

(c) 6 credit points from Table O or Table S;

(d) 48 credit points of 3000-level core units from Table A; and

(e) 48 credit points of 4000-level core units from Table A.

(4) FMHHWAM means the Honours Weighted Mark calculated from the results for all 2000, 3000, and 4000 level units attempted for the degree (weighted 2, 3, and 4 for their respective levels, with the Honours units of study given a weighting of 8 in this calculation).

6  Progression

(1) These progression requirements should be read in conjunction with the relevant Unit of Study Outlines, Faculty Local Provisions and Faculty Resolutions.

(2) Details of assessment requirements in each year, including the structure, content and expected standards, are available for enrolled students in the Unit of Study Outlines, the Handbook and on the Learning Management System.

(3) In accordance with Faculty local provisions: Faculty of Medicine and Health Professionalism Provisions 2019 and Faculty of Medicine and Health Professionalism Requirements Provisions 2019, candidates who demonstrate serious or repeated unprofessional behaviour may be required to show cause as to why their enrolment should be continued. Failure to show cause may result in exclusion from the course.

(4) Students must attend a minimum of 85 % of compulsory classes (as defined in individual UoS outlines, e.g. tutorials, workshops, laboratory classes and placements).

(5) Candidates who do not achieve a FMHHWAM [greater than or equal to] 65 across years two to four of the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) / Master of Pharmacy Practice and an Honours mark [greater than or equal to] 65 may be awarded the Bachelor of Pharmacy, provided that they have met the requirements of this degree.

(6) Candidates who fail one unit of study in the first, second, or third year and who have an annual average mark (AAM) of [greater than or equal to] 65 for that year, may apply for a prerequisite waiver which would allow enrolment in the full complement of units of study in the following year, together with the failed unit of study.

7  Requirements for the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) degree

(1) Integrated honours, involving a research project, is available to all students

(2) To qualify for the award of the honours degree a candidate must complete the requirements (192 credit points) of the four years of the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) / Master of Pharmacy Practice with a FMHHWAM greater than or equal to 65 across years two to four (inclusive).

(3) Honours in the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) is awarded in classes ranging from First Class to Third Class as specified in the Coursework Policy, and the Resolutions of the Faculty of Medicine and Health. The class of Honours awarded is based on a candidate’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Honours Weighted Average Mark (FMHHWAM).

8  Transitional provisions

(1) These resolutions apply to all students commencing the Bachelor of Pharmacy and the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) from 1 January 2023.

(2) Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Pharmacy or the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) who commenced their candidature prior to 1 January 2023 must complete the requirements in accordance with the resolutions in force at the time of their commencement.
