1 Meet the requirements for the entry to the profession as defined by Speech Pathology Australia.
2 Design and implements speech pathology practices that are evidence based and research informed.
3 Design and implements speech pathology practices in partnership with, and responsive to, individuals, families and communities.
4 Critically reflect on speech pathology practice from a clinician-scientist perspective to ensure the highest quality services, optimising communication and swallowing, and facilitating life participation and social inclusion.
5 Use knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing issues to create and provide speech pathology practices for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families and communities that are respectful and relevant in optimising communication and swallowing and facilitating life participation and social inclusion.
6 Able to identify possibilities for improvement of speech pathology services. 
7 Demonstrate a high standard of oral and written professional communication skills that includes communication that is accessible to individuals, families and communities. 
8 Advocate for sustainable and research driven speech pathology practice through community, professional and government bodies. 
9 Recognise key issues when providing speech pathology services and uses experiences and knowledge to develop, adjust and solve challenges. 
10 Show commitment to the speech pathology profession and takes responsibility for own practice as a speech pathologist. 
11 Effectively uses current technology and willingly learns new systems. 
12 Strive for culturally safe and responsive services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people that are delivered respectfully, considering individuals, families and communities.
13 Understand the relationship between diverse linguistic, cultural, social and personal contexts and communication and swallowing needs and can modify practices with individuals and communities in a respectful, sensitive and flexible ways.
14 Work collaboratively with other disciplines to ensure holistic intervention approaches.
15 Contribute unique expertise within interprofessional contexts and settings and understands the boundaries of professional speech pathology practice.
16 Advance best practice through lifelong reflection and learning, ingenuity, innovation and inspiration.
