Course learning outcomes

On successful completion of the Master of Education, students will be able to:

1 Demonstrate a depth of disciplinary knowledge, leadership and expertise in analysing and synthesising research across a range of educational disciplines.
2 Review, evaluate and critique research, theory and policy through a range of tasks relevant to specific educational stream disciplines such as critical thinking, problem solving, evaluating differentiating, inventiveness, and information and digital literacy skills.
3 Demonstrate key oral and written communication skills and evaluative skills, to demonstrate mastery of theoretical knowledge and to reflect critically on theory and professional practice, demonstrated in academic scholarship.
4 Demonstrate understanding theory and practice in relation to ethical education practice and cultural and intercultural competence by challenging deficit discourses, demonstrating how to lead inclusive and collaborative educational practice and demonstrating change in professional and personal identities.
5 Develop interdisciplinary effectiveness by demonstrating understanding of education issues in policy and practice and their relationship to other developments in education, the economy and society.
6 Promote the importance of cultural identity and understanding of Aboriginal peoples, cultures and histories, demonstrating understanding of the importance of cultural identity to improve the educational outcomes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
7 Plan and execute a substantial capstone experience and/or piece of scholarship in the form of a Special Project or Dissertation with high level of autonomy and personal accountability.
