Using the Science handbook

This Handbook contains the course rules and units of study requirements for courses offered by the Faculty of Science. Use this handbook when planning your studies to ensure you meet and understand the requirements for the course you are enrolled in.

Coursework

Locate course rules for your course. The rules outline the requirements for award, progression rules, admission to candidature, course transfer and transitional provisions. This section also includes course specific unit of study tables, sample enrolment tables and course learning outcomes.

Subject areas (Table A)

Subject areas are listed alphabetically: A-E, F-M, N-Z.

Each subject area contains a summary of the subject and requirements for programs, majors and minors, and Honours if available.

The Honours tab provides a list of all Honours areas.

Information on the requirements for the Advanced Stream, Dalyell Stream and Science Electives are found under Table A Overview.

Degree core

All students in the Bachelor of Science, including streams and combined degrees, need to complete the Table A Degree Core.

Governance

The Senate Resolutions and Faculty Resolutions specify general course requirements; the Senate Resolutions for the courses offered and conferred by the University of Sydney, and the Faculty Resolutions for those courses specifically conferred by the Faculty of Science.
