The University of Sydney Vietnam Institute facilitates and strengthens intellectual and cultural exchange between Australian and Vietnamese researchers, academics and students.
We build on the University's world-class multidisciplinary education, research, and significant and long-standing academic partnerships in Vietnam over the last 50 years.
The University of Sydney Vietnam Institute will realise our vision for sustainable, mutually beneficial cooperation across all levels of higher education and research engagement.
It seeks to improve the wellbeing of individuals and communities in Vietnam and beyond through excellence in multidisciplinary, collaborative, and impactful research and engagement.
The Institute will enhance the University's capacity to implement high quality research, attract substantial research funding, strengthen research partnerships, engage with governments, and connect with communities in Vietnam and beyond in the global health sector.
The University of Sydney has historically collaborated in Vietnam across a wide range of academic disciplines including health, arts and the humanities, agriculture, economics and business, technology and science.
This includes more than a decade of health research conducted through an affiliation with the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research.
Establishing the Institute as a pan-University research and engagement hub combines our activity into a single institute and marks a new chapter in our work in Vietnam.
