Our activities

The University of Sydney has historically collaborated in Vietnam across a wide range of academic disciplines including health, arts and the humanities, agriculture, economics and business, technology and science.

This includes more than a decade of health research conducted through an affiliation with the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research.

Establishing the Institute as a pan-University research and engagement hub combines our activity into a single institute and marks a new chapter in our work in Vietnam.

The Institute's inaugural activities include:

  • implementing and facilitating high quality research
  • identifying and supporting highly productive research networks with partner institutions and industry in Vietnam
  • building leadership in cross-cultural research and partnerships
  • hosting research seminars and symposia, academic conferences, and conventions, and
  • providing a base for short and long-term attachments and fellowships for Australian-based staff conducting research in Vietnam.
