Postgraduate Writing Retreat

It’s back! Dedicate yourself to three days of deep writing at the famed SSEAC Writing Retreat

Postgraduate students researching Southeast Asia are invited to attend a dedicated writing retreat at the Sydney Southeast Asia Centre. This retreat is designed to provide you with both inspiration and peer support to wrap up the year.

When: From 9.30am-5.30pm each day, Wednesday 6 December to Friday 8 December 2023.
Where: HC Coombs Centre, Kirribilli

Join us for our writing retreat for postgraduate students. Over three days, you will disconnect from the noise around you, reconnect with each other, and make inroads on your writing project.

The program will include structured writing time, informal discussions and debriefing sessions, and plenty of good food and coffee. This is a particularly beautiful time of year in Kirribilli, and we’ll also be encouraging you to enjoy the flowering jacarandas nearby!

Expected outcomes of the retreat include:

  • Making meaningful progress on an academic output
  • Reflecting on your own writing habits and productivity
  • Connecting with other researchers from the University of Sydney

A limited number of travel grants are available for participants travelling from outside Sydney, NSW. Please see details below.

Applications close 11.59pm 10 November 2023. Participants will be advised whether their application has been successful in the week commencing 13 November 2023.
