Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages

Overview

This page was first published on 27 November 2025.

The Master of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (M TESOL) is designed for English language teachers who seek to develop their professional expertise and further their understanding in the areas of language education, particularly in teaching English to children, adolescents, or adults.

The program explores a range of issues relating to language teaching, learning, and assessment, and the socio-cultural contexts of education. It also develops themes relating to practical language teaching and learning issues in second and foreign language contexts. This program will equip you with the advanced skills and knowledge to teach diverse learner populations effectively whether you are working in a local or international context.

The M TESOL employs a comprehensive pedagogical approach to facilitate student learning, integrating traditional lectures and tutorial classes alongside experience-based and work-integrated learning to provide you with a well-rounded educational experience.

The M TESOL also offers a Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma option as a nested qualification – either as an initial entry option or as an exit option from the M TESOL.
