Affiliate onboarding information
The information you need to join the team of affiliates at the Faculty of Medicine and Health.

Afilliate ID Number

Affiliates require an ID number to be provided with a UniKey (University login). To obtain your unikey please contact ICT on 9351 2000 and provide your affiliate ID number which will be provided to you once your application has been approved and you have accepted your offer of affiliation.

If you already have a ID number, this number will be updated with your new affiliation. If the unikey is no longer active or you have forgotten the login details, please contact ICT on +61 2 9351 2000 (option 2) and provide your affiliate ID number.

University email address

All affiliates except HDR external supervisors are entitled to a university email address.

As outlined in your letter of affiliation, you are required to use your “@sydney.edu.au” email account when you are engaged in activities in your capacity as a University affiliate. ICT will be able to assist you in setting up your University email account once you have accepted your offer of affiliation and have been provided with an Affiliate ID number. Communications from the University will be sent to this email account – we encourage you to monitor this email account for University information and communications. As part of the university’s Cyber Security program, ICT will be disabling automatic forwarding from University email accounts to external email platforms. The below domains are exempt from these changes and auto-forwarding will continue:

  • health.nsw.gov.au
  • ncahs.health.nsw.gov.au
  • nsccahs.health.nsw.gov.au
  • sesiahs.health.nsw.gov.au
  • sswahs.nsw.gov.au

The Faculty of Medicine and Health will however, communicate with you via your preferred email address.

Affiliate card and library access

Affiliate cards can be posted to a nominated address or an appointment requested to pick it up from the Student Centre (located at Level 3 of the Jane Foss Russell Building). Due to Government advice regarding COVID-19, the Student Centre will not be accepting walk-ins.

To get your card, please fill out the COVID-19 Staff Card Application Temporary Form (PDF, 171KB) and send it with a copy of your proof of identity documents to university.cards@sydney.edu.au. If you are a new affiliate member who is not on the HR system, please ensure that you also include the appropriate form from the Library Memberships page which has been signed by the relevant authority with a copy of the letter of affiliation/invitation letter. More information.

Your academic profile is managed by your home area/Faculty.  Please see this link for more information, and the contact person for your area. Alternatively, ICT Helpdesk may be able to assist. 

Mandatory online training modules

The University of Sydney requires all salaried staff and affiliates to complete compliance training online within specified time frames. You will receive an email to your @sydney address with further details. It is your responsibility as a University of Sydney affiliate to monitor your University of Sydney email address.


You are eligible to apply and pay for a parking sticker providing limited parking rights on campus, in accordance with the terms of any applicable policy. More information
