Top 5 globally for graduate employability
Graduates from the University of Sydney have been named the most employable in Australia and fourth globally, according to the 2022 QS Graduate Employability Rankings.

The University of Sydney has been named the number one university in Australia for graduate employability, a position it has held for the past six QS Graduate Employability rankings.

The University ranks fourth in the world ahead of institutions including Harvard, Oxford and Cambridge in the 2022 rankings.

“We are delighted to again be ranked 4th in the world for graduate employability,” said Deputy Vice Chancellor (Education), Professor Philippa Pattison.

“The ranking reaffirms our strategy of offering an education that equips graduates with skills needed for life and career. These skills do not refer just to the depth of expertise in a student’s chosen field of study – but also to the capabilities needed to work and learn effectively and creatively in a range of settings.

“Our industry partnerships underpin the development of these vital skills. We are grateful to our partners for the valuable opportunities they provide our students – including internships, placements and projects – and are pleased the latest rankings acknowledge their breadth and depth.”

The QS Graduate Employability ranking demonstrates how well universities prepare students for entry to the workforce. It is based on five indicators: employer reputation, alumni outcomes, partnerships with employers per faculty, employer/student connections and the graduate employment rate.

The University of Sydney offers real-world projects for students with more than 50 leading organisations in both Australia and internationally across industry, community and government sectors. Students have worked on projects with industry partners such as Accenture, DXC Technology, Ernst and Young, Herbert Smith Freehills, NSW Health, Telstra, Qantas, Westpac and many more.

The QS Graduate Employability ranking considered more than 700 universities and surveyed more than 75,000 employers around the world.

The University is currently ranked 38th in the world in the overall QS World University Rankings and has 30 subjects ranked in the top 50 globally in the QS Subject Rankings.
