Vice-Chancellor message to staff during floods

7 July 2022
Support available for those affected
Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Mark Scott, today wrote to staff acknowledging many had been affected by the ongoing floods and offering support.

Dear colleagues,

With the truly astonishing levels of rainfall across parts of Sydney and NSW this past week, I know many of our colleagues have been dramatically affected by floodwaters.

Staff and students from across our community have been evacuated from their homes, cut off from loved ones, and, sadly, will have experienced once again the impact of flooding on their homes and possessions.

As we know, for many, this latest challenge comes after the impact of recent floods and bushfires and the pandemic – all so heart-breaking and bewildering.

If you have been affected, our thoughts are with you and please let your colleagues know if you need time, understanding or a helping hand. There is a range of support and leave options available to impacted colleagues – visit the intranet for details. And, as always, we have an Employee Assistance Program service, which provides specialist support 24/7, free of charge, to all staff and their families by calling 1300 360 364.

Regards,
Mark
