Development of activity tracking algorithms with wearable sensors

Be rewarded for assessing benefits of everyday activities. The Intermittent Lifestyle and Physical Activity (ILPA) team at the Charles Perkins Centre is conducting a study to determine how health-enhancing common everyday activities such as walking, carrying groceries, and climbing stairs are when they are performed at different paces.

There are two parts to this study (you can participate in either one or both parts):

Part 1 Perform health-enhancing common everyday activities such as walking, climbing stairs and household chores within a 90-minute session whilst equipped with wearable sensors and oxygen mask to measure energy expenditure and heart rate.

Part 2 Wear wearable sensors and a video camera within the home and community for up to 6 hours to harmonise activity tracker information with actual activities performed under real-world conditions.

Participants will be reimbursed $20 gift voucher for completion of each part.

Eligibility

You may be eligible to participate if you:

  • Aged 30-50
  • Do not smoke
  • Are not on any heart medication
  • Are able to walk, climb stairs, and carry a load of groceries.
  • Live in NSW and are willing to come to Charles Perkins Centre (Camperdow, 2050)
