We are studying how fertility drugs, which are banned in competitive sports as 'performance enhancers', effect testosterone levels in women. Participants will receive 5 days of oral fertility drug or placebo and make 5 visits to Concord Andrology over 3 weeks to have blood tests to measure testosterone levels. At the end of the study, participants will receive a $100 gift voucher. 

Eligibility

  • Healthy female, aged 18-40 years
  • Regularly exercising (at least 2-3 times weekly)
  • Reliable contraception (e.g., oral contraceptives containing ethinyl estradiol but not estradiol, medicated or plain intrauterine device (IUD), tubal ligation, vasectomized or no male partner). 

who is not eligibile?

  • Not using any systemic products containing estradiol or testosterone
  • No chronic illness or regular prescribed medication likely to interfere with steroid metabolism
  • Not involved in competitions compliant with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) regulations
