ENGL5000: Research Infrastructures for English

2021 unit information

This unit will introduce research students to current methods of scholarship in English studies. Topics covered will include identifying a research topic, library resources, questions of publication and professionalisation. Assessment will be through a 6, 000 word annotated bibliography on the field of the student's research.

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • LO1. approach the topic of their research with more confidence and clarity
  • LO2. demonstrate awareness of the current infrastructures available to support research in literary studies, including library resources, archival skills and grant opportunities.
  • LO3. be empowered to take a more professional and organized approach to the subject of their research
  • LO4. confidently produce an annotated bibliography
