This unit will provide basic introduction to programming in Python for students, who have not been previously exposed to programming. This unit is oriented towards the practical application of Python in the collection, management and analysis of business data.

No prior knowledge of programming or coding is assumed. Some knowledge of mathematics (at a basic level) is beneficial

At the completion of this unit, you should be able to:

  • LO1. Describe and identify programming constructs.
  • LO2. Assess business problems and identify those which can be solved with programming.
  • LO3. Apply computational thinking to decompose and solve problems with programming.
  • LO4. Plan appropriate data collection, storage and preparation procedures.
  • LO5. Compare and evaluate programming methods and techniques for data processing problems.
  • LO6. Compose best-practice programming solutions in Python.
