Western Sydney (Baludarri) Precinct

Future health of Western Sydney

We’re creating new ways of solving health challenges through integrated research, education, technology and collaboration

Our Western Sydney (Baludarri) Precinct is focused on new ways of collaborating with our health and industry partners to deliver education, research, and ingenuity to positively impact healthcare outcomes, policy, and global reach.

To date we have invested around $80 million towards greater health, education, research and training at Westmead by providing new education facilities, upgrades to existing spaces, and a suite of new academic programs and initiatives alongside our partners at the precinct.

Our impact in motion

Our partnership with the Westmead Sydney Health Precinct goes back over 40 years to when the then NSW Government decided to build the first purpose-built university teaching hospital since RPA opened in 1882.

Westmead Health Precinct is now one of the largest health, education, research and training precincts in Australia. Our Precinct partner collaboration is key to our successful activity at Westmead.

From the ground-breaking work in IVF and perinatal research; to hands-on teaching in dental health and children’s health; to teaching students to save lives with Virtual Reality technology; we have the full lifecycle covered.

The new Central Acute Services Building – to which the University invested $45m - will serve Western Sydney’s health needs for generations to come, with world-class treatment, research and education capacity embedded on every floor.

Our researchers are dedicated to tackling the health and
socioeconomic consequences of chronic disease and emerging diseases with the goal of improving the health of the communities we serve.

Their research is having real impact on areas ranging from bioinformatics to infectious diseases, cancer genomics, children's health to digital health applications.
